From Business 2.0 – Google: The Gorilla of the Internet
"As if we needed more proof that Google is dominating the Web, a new estimate suggests that Google will account for a full quarter of all online advertising this year.
No company has ever acounted for that much Web advertising. Google is estimated to pull in $4 billion in online adevrising this year, compared to $2.9 billion for Yahoo.
Last year, the two companies were in a dead heat, both bringing in $2.4 billion.
During the 1990s, a popular theory among technology investors was that gorillas like Cisco, Microsoft, and Intel would just keep on extending their leads in the market.
Now Google looks like it’s the new gorilla. (Better make that with a capital "G).
