Web 2.0 vs. Web 3.0 – Social Discovery vs. Semantic Fuzz

Ross Mayfield’s comments on Web 2.0 vs. Web 3.0 as outlined by John Markoff of the NY Times highlight the distinction between a people-centric web vs. a machine-centric web.

I’d bet the future is less the Matrix than Soylent Green.  Less semantic fuzz than social discovery.  Less artificial intelligence than human intelligence.  Less automation and more augmentation….

Besides, Web 2.0 will be known as the name of a bubble.  And 3.0 would only be a marketing disaster."
